Many Chinese people deride or decry his second marriage merely because of the vast age gap. Most people judge others based on their own experience, instead of the relevant facts. People usually deem that a young girl marrying a grandpa is equivalent to leaping into the hell fire.
In retrospect, it is certain today that the young wife has been cherishing and relishing their unpopular marriage. In addition, all her and his family members sincerely supported their marriage ever since. Hence we can deduce that there must be an unusual reason for the marriage. One likely reason is that the young lady had been obsessed with the aspiration to consort with him. One clue is that his two wives bear staggering resemblance in appearance at their young ages. It appears he was destined to have the second marriage.
Despite boisterous suspicions, their marriage lasted for two decades congenially. It turns out that the fidelity and intimacy within their marriage have been dwelling far from any venomous speculations. Today, it is unfair and contemptible to malign or ridicule their enduring marriage, which was apparently founded on genuine sentiments.
As to the tragic altercation between 楊振寧 and 李政道, it is undoubted that 楊振寧 is the one much more culpable. Ever since, 李政道 was coerced to respond passively only when it was very necessary.
The tenacious contention is really peculiar, childish and consequential. It astounded and confounded the whole world. They perpetuated the senseless argument to the vast detriment of their own prestige. It costed 楊振寧先生 of at least one more Nobel Prize. It is embarrassing to many Chinese scholars around the world.
However, as a matter of fact, the altercation was neither illegal nor immoral, and did no harm to the world. They are the sole victims of themselves. That controversy is far from an ethical blemish on either of them.
Therefore, 楊振寧先生 is NOT a good role model in ethics, while he is a great role model in physics.

The absence of 習近平 and his proteges from the funeral of 楊振寧先生 reflects the fact that 楊振寧先生 had never fawned on nor bowed to the communist regime. This in turn implies that he went to China for the purpose of serving the country, instead of the regime or his own interests. He must have expressed some opinions or even criticisms that antagonized 習近平 who is ignorant yet arrogant, and fond of pointing out the direction for everything.
Even worse, the excessive ignorance of 習近平 culminates in his distain and aversion to prominent intellectuals, especially 楊振寧先生 who is commonly revered as the most preeminent Chinese scientist worldwide in modern era. His attitude eventually hindered communist officials at all ranks from attending the funeral.

1. Above all, 楊振寧 has never done anything harmful to the world or anybody else.
2. 楊振寧 is a great role model in physics, but not a good role model in ethics.
3. All criticisms and malice toward 楊振寧 actually stem from ignorance about him. For examples,
(1) "在李政道麵前，楊振寧是沽名釣譽的小人。在鄧稼先麵前，楊振寧是唯利是圖的小人。"
In fact, without the collaboration with 楊振寧, 李政道 could not have had chance to be crowned with Nobel prize. It was 楊振寧 who rescued 鄧稼先 who was being persecuted and almost executed.
(2) "如果年輕的時候就回國做貢獻 就值得稱讚"
In early 1950s, thousands of young scientists 回國做貢獻. But most of them were persecuted as espionages and many died from the persecutions.
In conclusion, it is ignorance and stupidity that actuate people to criticize 楊振寧, who in fact is a GREAT scientist and a great Chinese.
