劉翔三度光臨濟南奧體中心訓練場，都沒有發生意外，這讓“翔之隊”放鬆了警惕。決賽前，劉翔還像往日一樣在訓練場跑道上尋找比賽的感覺。劉翔放鬆練習的時候，一位與他身高相近的男子從身後抱住了劉翔。

　　有一段視頻清晰記錄下了“熊抱”的全過程。視頻顯示，該男子身著黑色運動外套，他走到劉翔身後，趁其不備伸開雙臂抱住劉翔，神情陶醉，意猶未盡。被意外抱住的劉翔奮力掙脫，擺脫熊抱後口中念念有詞，顯得相當氣憤。當時就在旁邊的教練孫海平正在幫劉翔擺放欄架，未能目睹“熊抱”一幕。
