和去年百花獎開幕晚會側重原生態歌舞的呈現相比，今年的金雞獎開幕晚會顯然走的是時尚流行的路線。表演嘉賓絕大多數都是華語地區一線的明星，比如蔡依林、容祖兒、莫文蔚、黃曉明、好男兒、超女、譚晶……陣容之豪華創下了蘇州曆史之最。
整台晚會被分成“家”、“夢”、“和”三個部分，分別從不同視角講述了中國電影走過的曆程和創造的輝煌，以及帶給電影人和觀眾們的精神寄托。而謝晉、謝鐵驪、田華、王心剛、葛優、陸毅等老中青三代影人的集體亮相，更讓這場晚會星光熠熠，有如走進了一部活的博物館，讓人領略到中國電影的風采。
在接下來的三天時間裏，一係列的電影活動將在蘇州舉行。27日晚，本屆金雞獎的近20個獎項也將一一揭曉，水城從未和電影離得如此之近，蘇州人民也將徹底過一把電影癮。
