使徒行傳第十五章說保羅和巴拿巴在外邦傳福音，有幾個人從猶太下來，教導弟兄們說：“你們若不按摩西的規條受割禮，不能得救”。保羅和巴拿巴就與他們大大的分爭辯論，但從猶太下來的這幾個人不服，就派保羅，巴拿巴和幾個人就這件事去耶路撒冷谘詢其他的使徒與長老。保羅他們到了耶路撒冷，那裏有幾個信徒是法利賽教門的人，也起來說：“必須給外邦人行割禮，吩咐他們遵守摩西的律法”。可見，這些法利賽人雖然是信徒，但是他們依然處於吃奶的基督徒階段，他們還沒有按耶穌所說的否定他們的舊人去靠耶穌得救。因此，他們仍然把行割禮作為得救的前提。這不禁讓人想起，在馬太福音裏耶穌曾說過，凡文士受教作天國的門徒，就像一個家主的庫裏既有新的東西，也有舊的東西，他會同時拿出它們來。因此，他們的教導對信福音的外邦人來說是一種迷惑，後來保羅在他的書信裏多次警告弟兄們要小心這些教導。另外，注意這裏的經文用的是“幾個人從猶太下來”，而不是“幾個門徒從猶太下來”。
徒15:1 有幾個人、從猶太下來、教訓弟兄們說、你們若不按摩西的規條受割禮、不能得救。
Some men came down from Judea and taught the brothers, "Unless you are circumcised after the custom of Moses, you can't be saved."
徒15:2 保羅巴拿巴與他們大大的分爭辯論、眾門徒就定規、叫保羅巴拿巴和本會中幾個人、為所辯論的、上耶路撒冷去、見使徒和長老。
Therefore when Paul and Barnabas had no small discord and discussion with them, they appointed Paul and Barnabas, and some others of them, to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders about this question.
徒15:4 到了耶路撒冷、教會和使徒並長老、都接待他們、他們就述說 神同他們所行的一切事。
When they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the assembly and the apostles and the elders, and they reported all things that God had done with them.
徒15:5 惟有幾個信徒是法利賽教門的人、起來說、必須給外邦人行割禮、吩咐他們遵守摩西的律法。
But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying, "It is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses."
徒15:6 使徒和長老、聚會商議這事。
The apostles and the elders were gathered together to see about this matter.
太13:52 他說。凡文士受教作天國的門徒、就像一個家主、從他庫裏拿出新舊的東西來。
He said to them, "Therefore every scribe who has been made a disciple in the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who is a householder, who brings out of his treasure new and old things."
