King Wei of Chu(楚威王), having heard Chuang Tzu's name, once sent messengers with gifts to invite him to his state, promising to make him chief minister(宰相). Chuang Tzu, however, merely laughed and said to them:"...Go away, do not defile me...I prefer the enjoyment of my own free will."(Historical Records, ch. 63) (”子亟去,無汙我。... 我寧遊戲汙瀆之中自快,無為有國者所羈,終身不仕,以快吾誌焉。“)
