Hudsonian Whimbrel（哈德遜中杓鷸）是一種雞一樣大的候鳥。它冬天是在南美洲過冬，夏天則飛到加拿大北部北極圈裏來繁殖。每年五六月間，它們回到解了凍的北極荒原來尋找配偶，繁殖後代，在北極短短的夏季孵化一窩四隻小鳥和喂養它們。完成了這一年的工作，它們分手了各自沿來的路飛回去。有的走美洲大陸東邊的大西洋海岸，有的走西邊的太平洋海岸，沿路在沙灘上用長長的嘴在沙灘裏找小動物吃。

Hudsonian Whimbrel在南美過了一年，又沿原路飛回來到一年以前來過的地方找老情鳥--- Whimbrel是一輩子搭伴的，那另一半也是循著去年分手以後的路又找回來。有的要走9000英裏才能回來。
