蒹葭蒼蒼，
The reeds are vast and misty;
白露為霜。
White dews have got to be frosty.
所謂伊人，
Heard about a lovely lady,
在水一方。
Residing on the river line.
溯洄從之,
Go upstream to look for her,
道阻且長。
Along a trail that is rough and long.
溯遊從之，
Go downstream to look for her,
宛在水中央。
Wondering where she would stay among the waters.
蒹葭萋萋，
The reeds are verdant and everywhere；
白露未晞。
White dews are still there.
所謂伊人，
Heard about a lovely lady,
在水之湄。
Residing on the riverside.
溯洄從之，
Go upstream to look for her,
道阻且躋。
Along a trail that is rough and bumps-covered.
溯遊從之，
Go downstream to look for her,
宛在水中坻。
Wondering if she would stay on a mid-waters land.
蒹葭采采，
The reeds are grand and brilliant;
白露未已。
White dews are not yet dried out.
所謂伊人，
Heard about a lovely lady,
在水之涘。
Residing on the waterfront.
溯洄從之，
Go upstream to look for her,
道阻且右。
Along a trail that is rough and winding,
溯遊從之,
Go downstream to look for her,
宛在水中沚。
Wondering if she would stay on an islet.

深秋的清晨，天剛蒙蒙亮。蘆葦蕩霧蒙蒼茫，露水已凍結成層層白色的冰霜。有位可愛的人兒大家都談起她，據說就住在這片水鄉的某個地方。我要去上遊尋找她，需要沿著一條艱難又漫長的懸崖山路而上。我要遊向下遊尋找她，可不知道她停留在水中的哪個地方。
天漸漸亮起來了。青色的蘆葦蕩一望無邊，冰霜漸漸化作露水在蘆葦叢上濕濕的。有位可愛的人兒大家都談起她，據說就居住在蘆葦蕩邊。我要去上遊尋找她，需要沿著一條艱難崎嶇的懸崖山路而上。我要遊向下遊尋找她，可不知道她停留在水中的哪個河灘上。
