這場比賽中，海軍不僅在足球場上擊敗了空軍隊，還從空軍學院手中奪走了俯臥撐紀錄。
根據吉尼斯世界紀錄的數據，之前的紀錄是2023年4月20日由科羅拉多州科羅拉多斯普林斯的空軍學院創造的，當時的人數為2926人。
赫格塞思的壯舉在社交媒體上引發了廣泛讚譽。
當天，他在海軍橄欖球隊的活動中扮演了重要角色。比賽結束後，他還參加了球隊的慶祝活動，並在更衣室裏發表了一場激昂的演講，鼓舞球員們。
這場勝利讓海軍隊（5勝0負）在競爭“三軍總司令獎杯”（授予海軍、空軍和陸軍三大軍校循環賽冠軍）的爭奪中占據領先位置。
海軍隊將於12月13日的年度“陸軍–海軍大戰”中力爭鎖定獎杯。
同一天早些時候，赫格塞思還解除了今年1月上任的海軍參謀長喬恩·哈裏森（Jon Harrison）的職務。
