The bill introduces nationwide work requirements for able-bodied adults aged 19–64 without dependents, effective no later than December 31, 2026. Recipients must complete 80 hours per month of work, volunteering, or education. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates this could lead to 10.3 million people losing Medicaid coverage by 2034, with about half due to work requirements.
