兩歲時拜少林寺第二十九代接法傳人釋永信為師，賜法名：釋小龍。
小龍自幼乖巧伶俐，善舞槍弄棒。他剛學會走路，就常隨其父(陳同山，現任中國嵩山少林寺武術學校校長)進少林寺參禪拜佛。特別是武僧們那宏大的練功場麵，深深吸引了他，常使他流連忘返。自小龍步入武壇以來，在父親言傳身教下，進步神速，並掌握了少林拳法、腿法、步法等少林基本功，學會了少林同臂拳、醉劍、醉拳、少林棍、五行拳等傳統套路和規定套路。在1992年中國鄭州國際少林武術節表演中，獲得少林同臂拳、羅漢棍兩項優秀獎，一舉成名，並受到影視界的關注。
年幼的釋小龍，聰明好學，在父親及師兄的啟導下，勤學苦練，不論是刮風下雨、烈日曝曬，還是三九嚴寒，他都堅持練功，終於以驚人的毅力、高超的技藝，贏得了世人的讚歎。1999年6月，小小年紀的釋小龍，隨嵩山少林寺佛學文化訪問團訪問台灣地區，被台灣地區報紙、雜誌譽為來自大陸的“和平使者”、“神奇的少林龍子”。從此,小龍的名氣越來越大，影祝演藝界的客商紛紛與他簽訂合約。1993年7月台灣長宏影視公司與小龍簽定合約，8月與台灣著名歌星林誌穎合拍了第一部影片(旋風小子)。1993參加了河南電視台少兒聯歡晚會。1994年4月與香港吳孟達、鄭少秋合拍了《新烏龍院》，8月與台灣影星金成武、葉全真在美國拍攝了影片《中國龍》，在中國拍攝了《武尊少林》、《少林雄風》等一係列電視片.
1995年，小龍在香港與吳孟達合拍了《無敵反鬥星》，與葛民輝、邱淑貞合拍了《賭聖》，與台灣鍾鎮濤、香港張敏合拍了《十兄弟》，與香港影星元彪、羅家英合拍了《龍在少林》。這一年小龍還應香港電影協會的邀請，作為十四屆電影“金像獎”特邀佳賓，為世界著名影星成龍頒獎；在天津舉行的第四十三屆世界乒乓球錦標賽開幕式上，表演“中國功夫”1996年小龍參加了中央電視台舉辦的“九六元宵節文藝晚會”4月又在香港與成惠安、方芳合拍了《黃金島曆險記》等影片。
隨著年齡的增長，釋小龍的武藝和演技也一天比一天高。如今小龍已成為海內外聞名的童星。目前，小龍又在忙著拍攝40集電視連續劇《烏龍院》，他在劇中擔任主角。
