生平介紹：1963年生，薑文是河北唐山人，畢業於北京中央戲劇學院表演係，
不到三十歲已主演六部代表作：《末代皇後》、《芙蓉鎮》、《紅高粱》、《本命年》、《春桃》和《大太監李蓮英》。這幾部影片，再加上他在九十年代末期主演的《秦頌》及《有話好好說》，奠定了他在中國當今影壇影帝的地位。
薑文除了在表演藝術上一再證明他獨特的創造能力，在電影編導方麵也不斷顯示出其不凡的藝術才華。1994年他自編自導的第一部作品《陽光燦爛的日子》，將幾位少年在文革年代的成長與欲望，開放舒暢的展現出來，影片獲威尼斯影展最佳男主角獎，多項台灣電影金馬獎大獎。
第二部作品《鬼子來了》，描述抗日戰爭時期，村民因處置兩名日軍俘虜而引發的悲劇，影片2000年在戛納影展獲評審團大獎，但在國內，卻因參展前未通過當局審查而被禁映，薑文也因此進入『三年困難時期』（傳三年內不許他導、演影片）。這具諷刺的一幕，一度成為海內外新聞。
薑文說，如果《陽光燦爛》紀錄了他三十到三十五歲這段時間的一些想法，那麽《鬼子來了》或許便是他三十五到四十歲時的某些感想。他喜歡電影可以紀錄一個人不同時期人生觀的變遷。
當年教過薑文表演的張仁裏教授說，薑文從一個演員，後來做了導演，他一點都不奇怪，因為薑文做學生時已是個極有見解的出色人材。北大教授、著名影評人戴錦華稱，薑文和張藝謀，是當今中國影壇的兩個天才，福將。現在，假如說薑文執導影片有障礙，但至今找他拍片的片約仍有張藝謀的新片《英雄》，及何平執導、好萊塢哥倫比亞公司投資的一部武俠傳奇片《Heroes
of Heaven and Earth》。
生活中的薑文，表麵上看是個不拘小節的人，但在接受采訪時，談吐卻是粗中見細，嚴謹小心。從他與比他年長十歲的中國影後劉曉慶從銀幕搭擋，發展為生活中的情侶，到結識現在的法國太太，到九七年有了愛女，薑文對自己的私生活，不多說半句。
『人很難表述自己，你也別相信他的表述。』他說。他非常相信中國的那句老話，人如其文，這裏，是人如其片。
或許，也正如他所說的那樣：『那些讓你興奮的東西，用筆一寫就錯，用嘴一說就不對了。我隻能拿膠片拍給你看。』
