西方基督教的《聖經》中有“上帝造人”的故事。上帝創造了第一個男人亞當，而後又用亞當的一根肋骨創造了第一個女人夏娃。性別本是天生決定，如今，隨著醫學技術的進步，變性已經不是天方夜譚。那些渴望改變自己性別的人，可以通過變性手術來“糾正上帝的錯誤”。在中國，當媒體和醫學界過度宣傳和炒作變性之際，變性人的生存境遇和社會壓力卻被忽視了。

近日，中國首位變性藝人，因為不堪周圍人們的歧視，在網上發了一封絕筆書之後音訊全無……關注變性人的生存，拒絕過度的炒作，也許這才是我們最該做的。

近兩年，媒體有關變性人的報道忽然多起來，參加環球小姐大賽的，要拍電影的，結婚的，婚變的……有資料顯示，目前全國約有40多萬人要求改變自己的性別，而且已經有一千多人進行了變性手術。變性人已經形成了一個不容忽視的社會群體，他們正在一步步走進社會的視野

其實，從已進行變性手術的患者來看，變性確實能滿足“易性癖”患者一時的心理需求，但長遠來看變性人在實施手術後會麵臨新的問題，如周圍人的異樣眼光，就業的壓力，婚姻問題，經濟來源問題。

十多年來，媒體、醫學界等人士一哄而上，把變性的“鮮花效應”和發達的醫學手段講過頭了，對變性後那些必然發生的、可能發生的和正在發生的不利情況講得很不夠。這不是真正理解和尊重變性人。

一份資料顯示：目前我國大約有40萬人要求進行變性手術，已有一千餘人做了變性手術。然而想變性並非那麽容易。

首先，每一位要接受變性手術的人首先必須是“易性癖”患者，並且已經以異姓身份生活和工作了一段時間。其次，在接受手術之前，還必須出具八項證明：即公安部門同意手術的證明、包括個人經曆及手術決心的個人手術申請的證明、家庭成員同意手術的證明、精神病院排除精神病的證明、工作單位同意手術的證明、鄉政府和居委會同意手術的證明、已經結婚者必須解決好配偶問題並出具法院證明、醫療費用的籌備及手術後的生活保障措施證明。證明準備齊全後，才能接受變性手術
