宗教與繪畫-8：耶穌誕生（Nativity）

書接上文，瑪利亞（Mary, mother of Jesus）去見表姐伊麗莎白（Elizabeth）。她在那裏陪伴表姐，一直到伊麗莎白生下了約翰（John the Baptist）。

之後，瑪利亞和丈夫約瑟（Saint Joseph）回到伯利恒（Bethlehem），生下了耶穌。

據「路加福音」記載，「（他們把耶穌）用布包起來，放在馬槽裏，因為客店裏沒有地方。」

在波提切利（Botticelli）的這幅作品裏，我們就可以看到耶穌，瑪利亞，約瑟，布，和馬槽。

在西方傳統中，馬槽（manger）裏可能有牛，也可能有羊，或者都有。牛象征著信舊約的猶太人，羊象征著外邦人（gentiles），即非猶太人。

耶穌誕生的日子，後世學者多半認同是在公元前6年 – 公元前4年 （6BC – 4BC）。

聖經裏沒有記載具體是哪一天，但幾千年來，大家在十二月25日慶祝，聖誕節。
