嗨，每個口渴的人

Ho, everyone that thirsteth
And hath the price to give,
Come to the stolen waters,
Drink and your soul shall live.
Come to the stolen waters,
And leap the guarded pale,
And pull the flower in season
Before desire shall fail.
It shall not last for ever,
No more than earth and skies;
But he that drinks in season
Shall live before he dies.
June suns, you cannot store them
To warm the winter’s cold,
The lad that hopes for heaven
Shall fill his mouth with mould.

* 豪斯曼的這首詩是詩集《更多的詩歌》中的第 22 首。 在這首詩裏，豪斯曼引用了幾段《聖經》中的話，但是改變了原意。《聖經》 說:
“Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.” (Isaiah 55:1)
“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” (Revelation 22:17)
“你們一切幹渴的都當就近水來，沒有銀錢的也可以來。你們都來，買了吃，不 用銀錢，不用價值，也來買酒和奶。” (以賽亞書 55:1)
“聖靈和新娘都說: ‘來!”’ 聽見的人也要說: ‘來!’ 口渴的人也要來! 願意的人 都要白白接受生命的水!” (啟示錄 22:17)
“Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.” (Proverbs 9:17)
“偷來的水是甜的，暗中吃的餅是香的!” (箴言 9:17)
《聖經》中的原意是，口渴的人都可以來喝水，不用錢。但是在詩中，詩人說: “每個口渴的人，隻要你有足夠的錢”。《聖經》中說:“偷來的水是甜的。”那是說不 正當的事對人總會有一種誘惑力。但詩人鼓勵人們說:“翻過圍著的籬藩”，“到‘偷來的水’這邊來，喝吧，你的靈魂就能續延。”
全詩的意思還是與豪斯曼其他一些詩的主題一樣: 生命不會無限製地延續，所 以必須及時行樂。即使是“偷來的水”，隻要能延續生命，也應該去飲用; 當令的鮮花也趕快去采摘，因為欲望不會永遠不消散。詩人還說: “及時飲水的，就會活到老死的 時間”，而那些 “期望上天堂的家夥”，則隻能“用土將他的嘴填滿”。
原詩四節，每節四句。譯詩雙句押 [an/ian/u?an] 韻。
