謙恭可作野心梯

勃魯圖斯論愷撒

 

譯文一

謙恭是年輕人雄心的梯階，
借以步步向上爬，然後轉過臉來
梯階就一腳踢開。贏家
覬覦頭上青雲，笑傲腳下臣民，
忘卻底層乃其登基階石。愷撒難免其俗，
因此，為消除後患，應阻止其坐大。

七律 詠愷撒

謙恭可作過河橋，壯歲雄心望九霄，
真偽奸雄翻掌變，梯橋水陸掉頭拋。
幹雲冷看底層小，作亂挾持權位高。
愷撒非神難脫俗，勸君防範在今朝。

That lowliness is young ambition's ladder,
Whereto the climber upward turns his face;
But when he once attains the utmost round,
