葉芝聖誕詩二首

一柱香
 
一陣騷動哪裏來？
是空墳還是處女娘胎？1
聖約瑟想到世界將消解，
但他喜歡自己的指頭領略的情采。2
 
1 空墳，指《聖經》記載的耶穌複活後留下空墳。
2 此處可以解讀為性愛撫（foreplay）的一種形式，詩人筆下的聖約瑟想象自己是耶穌的親生父親。

 
《三王朝拜》（The Adoration of the Magi），意大利畫家波提切利（Sandro Botticelli，1445－1510）作。東方三博士在伯利恒城中一所舊屋找到剛剛誕生的耶穌，並呈送預備好的禮物。

In their stiff, painted clothes, the pale unsatisfied ones
Appear and disappear in the blue depths of the sky
With all their ancient faces like rain-beaten stones,
And all their helms of silver hovering side by side,

Being by Calvary's turbulence unsatisfied,

觀物常以心眼，眼前走來三賢，
身披緊身彩袍，沮喪神色黯然，
若現若隱雲海裏，藍天邊，
古銅臉，好像石頭常遭風雨鞭，
銀色舵柄轉，好像鳥盤旋，
睜大眼睛凝視，期待再次發現――
髑髏地，亂糟糟，世事難遂願，
馬槽邊，說不定神跡就在眼前。
