弗吉尼亞州秋行 3. 鄉村路，帶我回家

荒無人煙的野徑

 

念石邊紅葉,年年知為誰生？

 

    周日一早，回途開車取道“天線路”北線，決定最後再爬走一道山徑，於是泊車到路邊。

    這似乎是一道被遺棄的山路，靜悄悄的野徑，除了我們一家子，沒有任何遊客，山徑因許久沒有人踏足而顯得窄小落魄，秋風瑟瑟地吹著，有鳥兒被驚動，飛騰起來，鳴叫著，不知為什麽，“鳥驚心”的秋讓我感時傷懷起來，今秋何秋，似曾相識的路徑，童年故鄉的九峰山，成長時迷幻般的仙宮山，印入血脈裏的阿迪朗達克山，還有哈城家附近的藍山(Blue Mountain)，如今，滿山樹葉也在悄然換色吧。鳥戀舊林，人思故鄉。一刹那，泗淚橫流起來。先生和孩子們都過來擁抱我，他們理解我的鄉戀，給我安慰，為我祈禱，我的淚水還是很不爭氣地流淌。

When there is a stirring in the tree  樹林被驚動

A bird would fly free   鳥兒飛起

on sudden wings         悚然的雙翼

breaking the silence    打破了靜寂

with its songs          鳥的鳴唱

then drop to the grassy sea    落在海浪般的草上

 

The mountains are wild      野性的群山

so are the trails           荒蕪的路徑

When the wind blows         風起時

the leaves chime in         葉子奏鳴

as if the stories are told  喚起舊憶

and the memories are shared 如訴衷腸

 

    索性離開了山徑，回到車裏，不多久，一片絳紅色的原野撲麵而來，停了車，站在絳紅色的海洋裏，感覺自己是多麽有福，能夠如此親近自然，感受主的美妙造物，難怪約翰·丹佛稱弗吉尼亞西部是天堂般的家園：有崇山峻嶺，有蜿蜒溪水，廣袤的平原，豐茂的牧場，清澈見底的仙納度河流。《鄉村路，帶我回家》(Take Me Home, Country Roads)1，約翰·丹佛魂牽夢縈的不僅僅是西弗吉尼亞的青山綠水，更是回到山裏的媽媽身邊。山裏的純樸媽媽，是礦工的太太，住在深山，從未見過大海，皮膚黝黑，塵土沾襟。久居外鄉的丹佛渴望早日見到養育他的大山媽媽。

 

    同樣是遊子的我們，又何嚐不是思念家園，難忘故土呢！鄉村路，帶我們回家吧！

有名的仙納度河(Shenandoah River)

 

賓館旁邊的喬尼·蘋果種子 Johnny Appleseed （1774-1845） 餐館。喬尼·蘋果種子原名喬尼·雀普曼Johnny Chapman，是美國曆史上的傳奇人物，他愛好種植，傳說他步行幾個州，沿路撒種蘋果種子，強調保護自然和生態環境，仗義疏財，自己卻很簡樸，赤腳，頭戴一口鍋，腰掛種子帶而行走四方，他因大力傳播種植蘋果，而被稱為喬尼·蘋果種子。

 

離開“天際路”-葉密如蓋，兩旁樹蔭交織如拱形門，再見了，仙納度國家公園！！
