This Christmas is such special. We had more than 2 feet of snow. A lots of roads had been closed. It was a classic White Christmas. The media said it was a "storm of the century". It was true. On the other hand, it brought more joy to us. Because it was the first White Christmas that we celebrated together. We built snowmen in front and back of our property. And enjoyed a cup of homemade hot chocolate in the warm house. What a joy! Of course, our Christmas Eve dinner is another part of celebration for this holiday.
今年的聖誕節不同以往。節前2星期開始下雪。聖誕節來臨，雪已有2英尺高。許多道路關閉。造成很大的交通不便。媒體聲稱“幾十年的大風暴”果然不假。不過這卻給我們增加了節日的歡樂，因為這是我第一次一起歡度白色的聖誕節。我們都放假在家，不顧寒冷，房前屋後地堆雪人，堆完雪人圍坐壁爐旁喝上一杯自己家做的暖暖的熱巧克力。濃濃的可可香，好溫馨！當然，還有聖誕節晚餐。。。。。。

First course: Butternut squash soup
This soup was made of butternut squash, onions, a little milk and 1 table spoon of olive oil. It is creamy, healthy soup. Great winter dish.
第一道：奶油冬瓜湯
這道湯是用 Butternut squash，洋蔥，一點點牛奶和一點點橄欖油做的。濃濃的奶香，健康，美味，又暖身。是冬季的佳肴。
Second course: Green salad with homemade Basque Creamy Garlic Dressing and homemade buttery dinner rolls.
第二道：綠葉素菜果脯色拉和家做的 Basque 蒜味奶香色拉醬. 配上我自己做的奶油晚餐麵包。再好不過了。
Take a close look. It is simple green salad add chopped dates. Just a little twist and made big difference. We like it very much.
近看看，其實很簡單的色拉加些果脯做個小變動。味道很不錯。

配餐：自做法國香腸和燒白豆
今年我學會了自己做香腸，是Julie Child 的配方。這個法國香腸真是名不虛傳。白蘭地的味道很濃。感興趣的朋友們不妨試試。具體做法請看上麵的連接。
Main course: Herb Roasted Leg of Lamb
A grass fed organic leg of lamb about 5 lbs. Poke holes all over and insert garlic sliver in each hole. Brush olive oil on the entire leg of lamb. Rub the meat with mixture of sea salt, fresh grounded pepper and rosemary. 30 minutes later, bake it in a preheated oven at 425F for 1.5 hours, roughly. It is very simple and delicious.
主菜：香料烤羊腿
有機羊腿用刀紮多個洞，每個洞裏放一小條大蒜，整隻羊腿刷上橄欖油，抹上海鹽，黑胡椒和 rosemary醃半小時。然後放入425華氏度的烤箱烤1個半小時。簡單得不能再簡單了。好好吃。
Dessert: Basque Creamy Rice Pudding
Before the Christmas, I asked him what he wanted for dessert on Christmas Eve. He said that he wanted Basque rice pudding. I agreed. We don't have Basque restaurant here. The only time we had the rice pudding was when we visited his relatives out of state. For us, it is special. Then I got chance to try it...... He was surprised:"wow, this is so delicious!" He is always a sweet talker! But I did feel like that I was walking on the clouds....... :-)

聖誕節前我問他要吃什麽甜點。他說Basque 奶香米布丁，我也同意，因為這道甜點隻有在Basque 餐廳才可以吃到。我們這裏沒有 Basque 餐廳。每次去拜訪他的親戚時才會有的吃。我來試試。他好吃驚：“怎麽會這麽好吃！” 說得我心裏美美的。他的嘴巴總是甜甜的。
Last look at our Christmas Eve dinner table. Looking back, it was a simple dinner. I didn't spend too much time in the kitchen at all. I made butternut squash soup, salad dressing and dessert one day ahead. Because it intense the flavor over night in the fridge for these dishes. Plus, I don’t have to do everything on Christmas Eve. We can relax and enjoy the time before the Christmas Day.
再看一次我們的聖誕節晚餐餐桌. 回想起來, 我們的晚餐真的很簡單. 我沒有起大早, 花10多個小時在廚房裏蓬頭垢麵準備晚飯. 冬瓜湯, 色拉醬, 甜點是前一天做好放在冰箱裏冷藏. 總共沒花2小時. 這些菜冷藏後味道更好. 冬瓜湯第二天熱一下就好了. 這樣一來, 我們多了時間放鬆, 慢慢的送走聖誕平安夜
Oh well, snow is still coming down. It was definitely a White Christmas.
