老歌新譯 -- 美國國歌《星條旗》歌詞

啊，是誰，你可見，當那朝霞即來 ，
為她我們歡呼自豪，在那餘暉夕陽，
呼嘯拚搏沙場，她那明星和寬帶，
同在我們保衛的要塞，無畏地高高飄揚？
火箭紅光閃，炸彈震天開，

United States of America National Anthem: Star Spangled Banner
O say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

《星條旗 》 (THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER) 是美國國歌。它的歌 詞寫於1814 年。其作者弗朗西斯•斯考特•基 ( Francis Scott Key) 當年是一位 35 歲的律師兼業餘詩人。 1812年的英美戰爭中，弗朗西斯在巴爾的摩親眼看到英軍戰艦從柴薩匹克灣對麥克亨利堡的炮火轟擊以及美軍的頑強抵抗。 激 戰之後的 9月13日淩晨 , 目睹美軍的英勇勝利和城堡上一麵依然高高飄揚的星條旗， 弗朗西斯深深感動，遂寫下了這首詩歌。

後來，這首詩歌被配上了一首流行的英國飲酒歌的音樂 , 歌名也取為《星條旗》。不久，這首歌成為了一首美國的愛國歌曲。但是，由於它有一個半八度音域，此歌又以難唱出名。 1889年美國海軍將它用作正式場合演唱的歌曲， 1916年它又成為美國白宮一首正式歌曲。 1931年3月3日，美國國會通過立法正式將《星條旗》定為國歌。雖然此歌共有四節，但是今天通常演唱的隻是第一節。

在此新譯中，筆者嚐試盡量準確譯出原意的同時，又力求保留原文的韻頭和韻尾，並使每個詩句的音節長度與相應原文詩句相似。這樣做的主要目的是為了保證譯文的可唱性，使之能夠仍然比較容易地用原樂曲演唱。
