On our long drive from Deer Lake to St. John's, we took a detour to Salvage, a small fishing town I read about in some guide book. The signs to Salvage were not clear, for a while I thought we were on the wrong road, but it turned out to be right. Got there in about 40 minutes after leaving TCH 1 (Trans-Canada Highway). It is pretty, but there was so little life, the only restaurant in town was closed for the season (this was early Sep), leaving us with no place to eat or go to the bathroom!

We didn't have time to hike any trail in Terra Nova National Park, but we did stop at their visitor enter which was nice, especially the touch tank / aquarium.
