Spain (3) - Barcelona

Today was our last day in Barcelona. We checked out of the apartment in the morning, went to Sants Estació (the main train station) first to drop our luggage in a big locker (5 euros) since we were taking a night train to Granada from here later. Then we took the metro to Espanya, and walked all the way (a very long and uphill walk) to Fundació Joan Miró, a museum of modern art honoring Joan Miró. There were tons of stuff by Joan Miró, and many things by other artists. The coolest thing we saw there was the mercury fountain by Alexander Calder who was the inventor of mobile. After that we took bus #55 outside the museum to Plaça de Catalunya and walked the Ramblas again.

1. La Rambla.

2. There is a market (Mercat de la Boqueria) just off La Rambla. There were all kinds of things for sale.

3. The fresh fruit juice (1.5 euros/cup) tasted really good.

11. This building on La Rambla was really cute with its Asian decorations.

13. Went back to Les Quinze Nits for a late lunch. The indoor restaurant was closed, but the courtyard seating was still open and there was no waiting. We ordered black rice. It was awesome, a lot of seafood, much better than La Fonda's.

14. There were tons of human statues on La Rambla. Most of them were boring. Occasionally you got a creative one.

15. The Columbus Monument at the end of La Rambla.

16. The bridge on Rambla del Mar can open for big ships to go in/out of the marina.

Went back to the train station for our 9:30 pm train. Our 1st class compartment was extremely small. We had to put our luggage on overhead rack so we had room to stand. There was a twin bunk bed, a tiny bathroom with shower, no TV or any other furniture, just a place to sleep.
