Spain (1) - Barcelona

From Barcelona airport (BCN), we took a train to Clot train station, then walked to our rented apartment. It has been a while since we last rented apartment for vacation, so it was a nice change, much more space than hotel rooms.

1. The sitting room. There was no English channel on TV at all. Not at this place or any other places we stayed in Spain.

From our hotel, the famous Sagrada Família (Church of the Holy Family) is only one metro stop away. Designed by Antoni Gaudí, construction began in 1882, with an anticipated completion date of 2026.

After Sagrada Família, we went to Casa Batlló, another Gaudí masterpiece.

Not far from Casa Batlló is Casa Milà, also designed by Gaudí. According to online reviews it seems Casa Milà is the least of Gaudí's works that is worthy of the entrance fee, so we didn't go in.

Had dinner at La Fonda just off the Ramblas. I had read good reviews on La Fonda at go2eu.com. They opened at 7:30 pm for dinner, kind of early by local standard. People started to queue up by 7:15 pm. A good sign. We ordered black rice, a famous rice dish in Catalonia. It tasted good, but there was hardly any seafood in it. We had the same dish 2 days later at a different restaurant nearby. It was much better.
