France (10) - Paris (Louvre and Orsay)

Finally we were in Paris, the city of light. Before coming to Paris, we heard so many things about it, good and bad. I am happy to report that we experienced nothing but good. People were so friendly. Some locals came to help us when we weren't even asking (we must look so lost :) ). Some tried to help us even though they couldn't speak English (and we can't speak French). We may not understand what they were saying at the time, but their gesture were so appreciated and remembered nonetheless.

1. To take the metro, we had to pass this chocolate shop near our hotel everyday. Talk about temptation.

2. Entering the Louvre through the underground mall.

3. Winged Victory of Samothrace.

4. Mona Lisa smiles behind bullet proof glass.

5. Venus de Milo.

6. I like this one a lot.

I thought I would spend a whole day in the Louvre, but after a few hours I had enough, so we headed out, grabbed some lunch, and went to Musée d'Orsay.

7. Louvre Pyramid.

Musée d'Orsay is a lot smaller and houses more modern art than the Louvre (1848 - 1914, still very old). This is my favorite museum in Paris. We saw lots of Manet, Monet, Renoir, and Van Gogh's paintings. Too bad they didn't allow any photo inside.

8. Musée du Louvre at night.

(To be continued)
