落霞與孤鶩齊飛，秋水共長天一色------英語的排比與對比

唐朝王勃題《滕王閣序》，其中兩句：“落霞與孤鶩齊飛，秋水共長天一色”最為膾灸人口，皆因為其對仗工整嚴謹，意境優美如畫。既有音韻美，也有視覺美。
同樣，英語中也有排比句和對比句。它們的特點是：句子結構對稱，詞匯簡練類似，但在語序或某些字眼上略作改動，形成鮮明的對比，生龍活現地表達了某種哲理或觀點：

A man is a person who will pay two dollars for a one-dollar item he wants. A woman will pay one dollar for a two-dollar item she doesn’t want.
男人會花兩塊錢去買值一塊錢的東西，隻要他用得著；女人會花一塊錢去買值兩塊錢的東西，縱使她用不著。

In the old days, a girl married a guy for his money. Now, she divorces him for the same reason.
以前的女孩子為錢而結婚。現在的女孩子為錢而離婚。

Nowadays, we are kept alive by half of what we eat, and killed by the other half.
現在，我們吃的東西有一半是為活命，有一半則是會致命。

In a backward country you can’t drink the water, and in an advanced country you can’t breathe the air.
落後國家的水你不敢喝；先進國家的空氣你不敢吸。

At eighteen, one adores at once; at twenty, one loves; at thirty, one desires; at forty, one reflects.
十八歲一見鍾情；二十歲談情說愛；三十歲欲火焚身；四十歲往事如煙。
