Tender Empathy

I have submitted to a new emotion;
An emotion that dizzies me of thought-
Unmanageable and unruly.
Thoughts that store endless riddles and random
Craters-unbraided and vagrant-
Regaling only selfishness;
They harbor quarrels and are bent
On making my sleep fierce and dreamless, while
Rendering nothing back except terror
Smitten vagueness.
I have found a new emotion, an emotion
That never utters a word, though it can be heard;
That never shatters a moment, but
It renews the impediments.
I may as well be left to my hermitage
To obscure guilts, cheerless-
The throwback to
How I ought to feel.
