請教這樣做算charge double rent嗎

前一個房客break lease 走了，多交了兩個月（$6000) 的房租。很快找到下一個房客住進去了，gap隻有10天。從法律上來講我是不是隻能charge前房客10天的房租($1000)和找下一個房客的花費(其實沒花多少時間和精力，算$1000吧），把剩下的6000-1000-1000 = 4000退還給前房客。如果不退，雖然前房客不會找我麻煩，但是從法律上來講是不是charge double rent呢?
