A group of parents who lost their children to suicide at the Golden Gate Bridge relentlessly advocated for a solution for two decades, meeting resistance from people who did not want to alter the iconic landmark with its sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay.

 

Notes:

(1) The installation of net was completed on Wednesday. The project cost $224M.

(2) About 2000 people have jumped to their death from the bridge since 1937.

(3) The net is made of stainless steel and is not flexible, so it will hurt a lot if someone jumps to it.
