英國媒體報道，美國總統川普（Donald Trump）1月28公布就任以來最激進的改革政府政策。川普發信給200萬聯邦僱員，但凡願意在2月6日前選擇離職的聯邦僱員將獲得8個月的遣散費。
路透社29日報道，川普向200萬名聯邦僱員發郵件表示，在這個自願延遲離職方案（deferred resignation program）下，當事人的薪酬與福利都會維持到今年9月30日，期間會獲得工作安排上的減免。
美國國家廣播公司（NBC News）引述一名政府高層官員報道，白宮預計5%至10%的聯邦僱員將選擇離職，預計可節省高達1000億美元。
報道引述人事管理辦公室指，推出有關安排是希望快速削減美國政府人員規模，以實現總統川普精簡架構的要求，但該政策不適用於武裝部隊軍事人員、郵政服務、以及與移民執法及國家安全相關的職位。
報道指，願意接受離職條件的聯邦僱員被要求自28日起以電郵回覆，並且在回覆電郵的正文注明“辭職”（resign）字樣，截止回覆日期為2月6日。
