據紐約警方稱，紐約市曼哈頓島中城中央火車站附近一處蒸汽管道18日傍晚發生爆炸，散出滾滾濃煙。爆炸發出的巨大威力使附近高樓受到強烈震動，高樓內的所有人員被緊急撤離。
爆炸發生在曼哈頓島第三大道43街。消防隊員正在現場撲救，但白色的濃煙仍不斷散出，彌漫了曼哈頓中城。警方初步認定此次爆炸與恐怖活動無關。
據當地報道，目前至少有12人在爆炸中受傷，數條地鐵線因爆炸事件已停止運行。
