2007年7月14，北京朝陽區，首屆全國鋼管舞公開賽熱辣登場。本次比賽中的參賽選手中，熱愛時尚健身運動的業餘愛好者居多，印象中的夜店鋼管舞娘則很少見。這也使本次比賽具有了相當深厚的群眾基礎。據悉，鋼管舞健身運動在京城已日漸火暴，開辦鋼管舞健身俱樂部的經營者也獲利頗豐。
本次比賽的參賽選手中設女子單人、男子單人、及外國友人組三個組。但三個組中，參賽者最多的還是首推女子單人組。來自全國20個省、自治區和直轄市的
50多名辣妹打扮火暴，動作前衛嫵媚，引得現場觀眾大飽眼福。但采訪得知，這些辣妹們大部分都是鋼管舞的愛好者，而非職業選手。她們平時一般都有本職工作，為了強身健體的目的來參加本次比賽。
