Task Oriented Me

The last time Da Mao and I went to see the therapist, she pointed out that I am a task oriented person. That is right to the point. As she mentioned, now I realize that I am very task oriented. 

I always have a goal or a task for anything and everything. Like this past weekend, we went and bought window treatment for the front windows, and installed them. We have 5 big floor-to-ceiling windows in the front of the house. We have been saying that we need sheers to cover them for almost a year. Finally, I made up my mind to do it this weekend. Because the length for all the windows together is 20 feet, it is hard to find a rod that long. Finally, I found a rod in BedBathBeyond which can be connected to make up the total length I need. But the sheer I liked there are too expensive. $30 for a 40’ wide sheer. I would need at least 14 pieces of them. JC Penny always has window treatment on sale. Da Mao and I went to JC Penny and picked out a sheer, it was not as elegant as the one I liked in BBB, but it looked better than any other kinds. It was 59’ wide and $14 after discount. I only needed 10 pieces of them together. We bought 10 sheers back.

Sunday, I went to BBB and bought 2 sets of rod back. When we started to install, I noticed that the rod was too thick and could not pass through the hole on the sheer. I could not put off the job and wait to find other rods or sheers, because I could not stand the furniture being out of place for another day. I asked Da Mao to install all the rod holders on the wall. In order to make the hole bigger for the rod, I sew another line on the sheer and undid the existing sewing line. Finally, all the panels were fixed and put on the rod. They looked really nice and the room had a more finished look. Even I was all sweat and tired, I felt I accomplished my task and satisfied with my accomplishment.

On the weekend, I can not stay on bed sleeping for a whole day, and I can not lie on the sofa watching TV for a whole day. I have to do something and complete it. Even on my vacation, I have a pan for each day, and I want to do things as planned. My kind of person can not stand other people lie around doing nothing. For other people, that is called relax or resting. For me, that is wasting of time. For my kind of people, maybe in our fate, we are determined to be the endless hardworking ones. I think my kind of people should try to learn how to relax a little bit and take the life in an easier way. That will be easier for us workaholics and easier for people around us too. I have to say to myself: Relax, people!
