Dear Sir,
I am Hui Xu, a Ph.D candidate in Chemical Engineering at the
With the 2-year experiences in the Laser Diagnostic Shock Tube laboratory, specializing in hydrocarbon reaction chemistry, I am experienced with “Laser Diagnostic Shock Tube System” that followed by consequent analysis using “Laser Diagnostics/Mass Spectrometry” coupled with detailed Kinetic modeling to propose viable rate parameters.
My research work includes conducting high temperature and high pressure Chemical kinetic studies of hydrocarbons and their reactions with emphasis on their environmental impact with the usage of a shock tube. Subsequently, the data was analyzed/interpreted by resorting to computer modeling and a complete kinetic model for the pyrolysis of several molecules (like defluoroethane, vinyl fluoride, pyrozane) was developed. I thereby have an intimate knowledge of chemical kinetics, heat and mass transfer and other principles of chemical engineering, with an emphasis on reaction dynamics.
I have also conducted combustion experiments on a variety of other hydrocarbons and am proficient in handling, troubleshooting and maintaining all necessary equipment used in a pilot plant scale on a day to day basis. I have hands on experience in handling laboratory scale equipment, laser systems, vacuum/high pressure systems, maintaining detailed laboratory records also in preparing gaseous mixtures of various compositions and conducting shock tube experiments using Lab View 5.1 control software. I also have considerable experience in working with various kinds of pumps and troubleshooting them. I am experienced in material selection and purchasing for the laboratory.
By guiding junior graduate students in their research, laboratory work and projects, I am enhancing the ability of team working.
By a specialized course in Safety Engineering, I am familiar with Safety and Failure Analysis, Evaluation and Testing. I am also proficient in the usage of spreadsheet packages like MS Excel, Microcal Origin 6.0 and other in-house and commercial modeling software to accurately analyze and interpret experimental results.
I sincerely believe that my skills and knowledge will be best utilized for the position of a technology development engineer at most of modern chemical companies as well as in the research institutes.
Sincerely yours,
Hui Xu
