曲學虛荒小說欺，俳諧怒罵豈詩宜？
今人合笑古人拙，除卻雅言都不知。

How could the verse be: “shoddy, shabby, sham,”
In which derision, absurd jests do cram?
But our bards now laugh at the stiff ancients —
“Ah, none but grace that everywhere did jam.”
