To: obita,

PS. most of the international students I met in the States, (graduate school of course) are NOT from major cities. I'm not saying that it is absolutely fair for the students in the countryside, but things are NOT that terrible as for now.
PS x 2. the residency restriction is not a good system, but without that system, the country would be in chaos given the huge population in China. Everything started with the wrong decision from Chairman Mao. But under current situation, there is not too many options to prevent things from getting out of hand. I wonder if you can see that thing clearly or not. By the way, China is not the worst nation with class restriction. That title belong to the self claimed "the most democratic nation in the world", India.

I would not donate to the government, I would rather give directly to some poor ppl, or red cross, etc. And I never had any interest in those fancy things they built just to show off. P.S. I always curious about those "flooding the web" articles about those miserable ppl on the streets. Aside of taking photos and writing provocative articles, did they actually help those poor ppl out a little bit? A hot meal, a hot bath, or anything?

YES. THIS WILL NOT CHANGE HOW THE GOVERNMENT TREAT THEM. BUT ONLY WHEN EVERYONE IN THE SOCIETY ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING FOR THEM. THEN THE GOVERNMENT MIGHT IMPROVE ITS POLICY SINCE THE ENTIRE SOCIETY IS ON A HIGHER LEVEL. Articles like this are good, just like what LU XUN did in the past. BUT IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO MOVE THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT FORWARD under current situation whereas most of the regular ppl only care about themselves (sometimes not even their OWN PARENTS!!). For the current situation in China, there will not be any revolution any soon. And political structure change starting from the party core is not going to happen any soon. But since ppl here are living in the FREE COUNTRY, YOU SHOULD HAVE HIGHER MORAL STANDARDS THAN THOSE SELFISH BARSTARDS. THEN ON TOP OF THE GOOD THINKING, DO SOMETHING.
YES, China is still way behind the developed country like the US and Canada. And a lot of things they do are still heavily rely on hard labors. But if you use the developed country standards on a developing country, then I am going to ask, who is the ignorant one here??? As 胡渙 pointed out, Chinese government ACTUALLY made some improvements in handling this disaster. Though it is just a small step, it is a good sign. For 6-4 situation, the government ACTUALLY was afraid of things getting out of control. It is ACTUALLY a pretty common reaction for ANY government, IN A BAD WAY. And you cannot ignore the fact that there WERE some awful plans going on in the shadow. IT WAS NOT JUST ABOUT THE STUDENTS. IT WAS A MIXED SITUATION. POLITICS IS NOT THAT SIMPLE AND STRAIGHT FORWARD.
AND AS YOU, MR. TALK BUT NEVER ACT. YOU NEED TO GO OUT AND DO SOME SOCIAL WORK TO UNDERSTAND WHY ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN A THOUSAND WORDS. AND PLEASE PRACTISE POLITICS IN A SAFE WAY.
Being thoughtful is just the beginning. What really is going change the situation is the following ACTION. I'm trying to remind ppl here. We need to do something on top of being thoughtful. Become volunteers, do social works, or treat them a little better when they are around you. ACTIONS speak LOUNDER than a thousand words.

and what i said was, THAT's not enough. ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS. Being thoughtful is not necessary to change anything. You can think all you want, but it is NOT going to change their situation. Childish my a$$. To me, you just spit out some irresponsible words and NEVER ACTUALLY DO ANYTHING.

Okay, now everyone here should ask themselves, "WHAT DID I DO / WHAT SHOULD I DO TO IMPROVE THEIR SITUATION?" Anyone can sit around, point fingers and bitch about this and that. Your merely "wish" of someone else should stand up and do something about this situation is as useless as doing nothing. Because YOU ARE doing NOTHING. SO, WHAT DID YOU DO? WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
She was drivin' last Friday on her way to Cincinnati
On a snow white Christmas Eve
Goin' home to see her Mama and her Daddy
With the baby in the back seat
Fifty miles to go and she was runnin' low
On faith and gasoline
It'd been a long hard year
She had a lot on her mind and she didn't pay attention
She was goin' way too fast
Before she knew it she was spinning on a thin black sheet of glass
She saw both their lives flash before her eyes
She didn't even have time to cry
She was so scared, she threw her hands up in the air
(Chorus)
Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
'Cause I can't do this on my own
I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
Save me from this road I'm on
Jesus take the wheel
It was still getting colder when she made it to the shoulder and the car came to a stop
She cried when she saw that baby in the back seat sleepin' like a rock
And for the first time in a long time she bowed her head to pray
She said I'm sorry for the way
I've been livin' my life
I know I've got to change
So from now on tonight
(Repeat chorus)
WHAT DID YOU DO? WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
To Abita,Those people who are writing here are exactly doing something, something extremely significant, because they are trying to wake up these who are blind, deaf and dumb, like you, while facing millions and millions of the forgotten people.

So far, cheap labour is China's ticket to global economy....these cheaper labour get nothing, nothing at all in return...
gjdd's comments sound really stuip and insulting. Chinese new year is the most important time for Chinese families. Besides, this is the only time the workers get a reasonably time off. Does gjdd think that the workers can go on holiday whenever they want to in China?
