Halloween has been known to me since I was a university student in China, from an English book, as an annual holiday (mostly for kids) observed around October 31, which includes such activities as trick-or-treating and costume parties.
My first real experience of Halloween is during my business trip to California from China. It was such a scary experience, since we had to try to find a friend’s home at a strange area late at night, among skeletons, jack-o'-lanterns and other scary decorations, and dog barks.
Another interesting thing I remember related to Halloween is that a Chinese visiting scientist asked me in a late October why everybody was talking about heroin.
Many households that celebrate this event are prepared for trick-or-treaters and they are very nice to kids. However, there are new reports, every year, of unhealthy or poisonous candies or even gunshots as the return of a door knock.
Halloween is a fun holiday season. Enjoy the Halloween activities, and at the same time, make sure that you and your family are safe.
