This is the time when the winter is yet to come and the autumn is about to leave.
There is a gap between seasons that makes me feel sort of, forlorn. Life is so stressful that I have to strive hard to survive in order to pass through its course peacefully, and in the meantime, life is so banal that I have found no answers to its intended meaning.
The country I live in is sinking with a huge load of debts that have reached a stratospheric level and a record high unemployment rate of which there seems to be no way out in a foreseeable future. People seeing no hopes annexed a small private park at downtown New York, occupying that piece of tiny land to form a mini society with each raising in the wind a shabby paper board that read the same inner cry in different forms:“We are screwed; we are mad; we are desperate”.
While most of time I 've sniffed at the bottom class of the society for its overall stupidity and laziness, I have sympathy with those who are hard working citizens and the true victims of the dysfunctional system.
What has happened ? Simple---Banks have been issuing bad loans. The big banks have raped the American economy and they are still at large. The so called elite class of one kind is sucking a huge amount of wealth with short term visions and goals at the cost of the entire country’s future; Capitalism is at no time more about exploiting the global labors by the bloody profit driven entities called corporations, which care nothing about labors themselves, whether they be international competitors or domestic citizens. To them, labors are just capitals in the form of human. The system allowed and is still allowing them to ravage the remaining flesh of the nation’s resources. And the country is acting as if in a Ponzi scheme at the national scale , borrowing new debts to pay old ones, day by day, year after year. In fact, the whole world has been issuing bad loans, from one group to another counterpart, form one country to another sovereign. How ironical it is that once most developed countries are now bleating, waiting for the once much less developed country China to save them while in the meantime being so afraid that the fast-growing giant is just a six trillion bubble that is also about to burst, potentially dragging everyone into a deeper sorry abyss.
This is 2011.
This is a world where on one street of its eastern side, a female toddler was ignored by 18 passer-by as she lay in critical injuries caused by two hit-and-run trucks , while on one corner of its western side, a heroic homeless male adult, stabbed after trying to save a woman threatened by an attacker, lay dying in a pool of blood as 25 indifferent people strolled past him. Of course, this is just a sad view of may-be still wonderful planet and hopefully, is just a dark, pessimistic view of the still rational, cherishable Time, of the still worth-of-living global village.
Just as there must be warm sunshine even in the coldest days of a winter season, there must be a bright side of the dimming planet earth. Hopefully the core of the humanity has not yet been decayed by the survival oriented evolution process into something more and more selfish, greedy, cold, mean, and evil…
