求助

我原在一家公司上班， 作 software testing. 我們為一個政府部門提供consulting service.前段時間公司contract到期了。要重新bid. 結果我們原公司輸了。合同被另外一家公司拿去。這樣我也丟了工作待在家。這家新拿到合同的公司需要找人來繼續作這個project.他們找到我。我就去上班了。但這時侯我原公司不知道如何知道了。他們來信說我兩年內不可以這樣做。他們的依據是我幾年前進這家公司時簽的一個non-compete aggreement.我不知道該如何辦。我理解的是，如果兩家公司同時在作這個project,我不可以為第二家公司作。但現在的情況是第一家公司已經out了， 和這個project沒關係了， 就不存在compete的問題。
請大家給提供點信息。如何對付原公司。他們告我能贏嗎？
