First, have clear understanding of yourself - including your strength, your interest, what attracts employers from your experience.
Second, have good understanding of market needs - within or close to your experience, what are employers looking for, list the hot in demand skills, experience.
Third, do the match. Align your skill/experience with market demand, identify areas that you want to get a job.
Forth, update resume, taylored to what the market needs, you might need to have several versions of resume, for instance, one for individual contributer, one for team lead, one for manager.
