Why it's so hard to find a job

I have accounting and Computer science degree, both in  B.S . Passed my CPA 2 years ago. Currently is working for a media company as staff accountant. The company fired my direct manager last month, and now i am trying to find a job. I have sent out resume through online jobsite(monster, careerbuilder) couldnt even get a job interview offer. Why is so difficult to find a job now. I am so sick of my current company after they fired my manager. I need to get out.
