After being in my new roles for two months, I realized that I am not excited about it for the following reasons:
l Less visibilities than my prior role
-- This means a easier life, as long as the pay the good salary, this is a gain!
l Less exposures than my prior role
-- This just means a quieter life, good!
l Not much room to develop the skills that I would like to develop: presentation skills and strategic meeting brainstorm.
-- We can always develope these kind of skills by our own;
l My manager doesn’t pass along any information what she got from the higher up meeting. In my prior company, VP of the department keeps us posted about what’s going on. My current boss even doesn’t pass along the news regarding the human resource change.
-- Who care those kind of useless news, as long as the salary get paied. Enjoy life!
But this position has some benefits:
l Flexible: work at home three days a week. I have 2 kids, one is 3 and the other is 1. The older one is in daycare. My mother-in-law is helping out with the younger one now.
-- How nice! Very important! Just this reason, wort stay, stay, stay!
l Manager is not difficult to deal with. But she seems not very organized. She likes to work on the things in the last minute. She is kind of new at her role, only one year experience in this function. But she has 11 years experience in another area within the same company.
l Nationwide opportunity. If I am not happy with my role, there are many opportunities without the geographic restrain. It means that you can work in any company office.
-- As long as not plan to relocate, this is nothing.
Stay in the work, enjoy life!
