故事從唐人街的一家古董店開始，店中的如意金箍棒把美國男孩傑森(邁克爾-安格拉諾)帶回了中國古代，在那裏傑森巧遇功夫高手魯彥(成龍)和金燕子(劉亦菲)，三人和默僧(李連傑)一起經曆了諸多艱險，終於戰勝白發魔女(李冰冰)、玉疆武士(鄒兆龍)等邪惡勢力，將金箍棒送還到美猴王的手裏，完成拯救美猴王的使命
