Considering the post below is from a sitting US Treasury Secretary widely seen as Fed Chair Powells closest ally in the Administration, they are indicative of a broadening and deepening loss of political support for the Federal Reserves leadership and the institution itself.
This moves the discussion of internal Fed reform, as opposed to the issue of political independence, to a completely different level.
If the Fed continues to show reluctance to reform, it risks having less and less say in how it is reformed.
At this point, it is no longer a question of if reform will happen, but how.
