《望海潮（1）·東南形勝》

東南形勝（2），三吳（3）都會（4），錢塘(5)自古繁華。煙柳(6)畫橋(7)，風簾(8)翠幕(9)，參差十萬人家。雲樹(10)繞堤沙，怒濤卷霜雪(11)，天塹(12)無涯。市(13)列珠璣(14)，戶(15)盈羅綺(16)，競豪奢。
重湖(17)疊巘(18)清嘉(19)。有三秋(20)桂子，十裏荷花。羌管(21)弄晴，菱歌泛夜（22），嬉嬉釣叟蓮娃(23)。千騎擁高牙(24)，乘醉聽簫鼓，吟賞煙霞。異日(25)圖將(26)好景，歸去鳳池(27)誇。
1. 望海潮：詞牌名，為柳永所創。雙調107字，前段11句五平韻，後段11句六平韻。
2. 東南形勝：（國家）東南部地理位置重要之處。
3. 三吳：即吳興（今湖州）、吳郡（唐朝治所在蘇州的一個郡）、會（kuai4）稽（今紹興一帶）三郡，在這裏泛指今江蘇南部和浙江北部地區。
4. 都會：都市。
5. 錢塘：即今浙江杭州。
6. 煙柳：初春黃色的柳芽子很小，從遠處看柳樹呈現出一種朦朧的質感，稱“煙柳”。
7. 畫橋：彩繪的橋梁。
8. 風簾：擋風的簾子。
9. 翠幕：翠綠的帷幕。
10.雲樹：形容一片樹木遠看如雲霧一般。與上麵“煙柳”對應。
11.霜雪：此處指白色的浪花。
12.天塹(qian4)：天然大壕溝、江河，此處指錢塘江。
13.市：集市。
14.珠璣：珠是珍珠，璣是一種不圓的珠子。這裏泛指珠寶和貴重物品。
15.戶：家家戶戶。
16.羅綺(qi2)：綾羅綢緞。
17.重湖：以白堤為界，西湖分為裏湖和外湖，所以也稱重湖。
18.????(yan3)：山峰。
19.清嘉：清秀美麗。
20.三秋：秋季，亦指秋季第三月，即農曆九月。
21.羌(qiang1)管：即羌笛，羌族之管樂器。
22.泛夜：為“夜泛”的倒置。泛，劃船漂遊。
23.釣叟蓮娃：釣魚的老翁和采蓮的姑娘。
24.高牙：高官出行時的儀仗旗幟。牙：軍旗，竿上以象牙飾之。
25.異日：改日，將來。
26.圖將：畫出。
27.鳳池：即太液池，皇家園林中的池塘，這裏指朝廷。

Scenic splendor southeast of River Blue
And capital of ancient Kingdom Wu,
Qiantang's as flourishing as e'er.
The smoke-like willows form a windproof screen;
Adorned with painted bridges and curtains green,
A hundred thousand houses spread out here and there.
Upon the banks along the sand,
Cloud-crowned trees stand.
Great waves roll up like snowbanks white;
The river extends till lost to sight.
Jewels and pearls at the Fair on display,
Satins and silks in splendid array,
People vie in magnificence
And opulence.
The lakes reflect the peaks and towers,
Late autumn fragrant with osmanthus flowers,
Lotus in bloom for miles and miles.
Northwestern pipes play with sunlight;
Water chestnut songs are sung by starlight;
Old fisher men and maidens young
All beam with smiles.
With flags before and guards behind you come;
Drunken, you may listen to flute and drum,
Chanting the praises loud
Of the land beneath the cloud.
You may picture the scene another day
And boast to the Court where you'll go in full array.
