Why isn't China considered a consumer economy?

(2025-12-26 12:59:59) 下一個

Q: Why isn't China considered a consumer economy like the United States, and what are the implications of this difference?

A:

Because the US consumer economy is capitalist, and China does not want to be a capitalist country.

The difference between a capitalist country and a socialist country is that the capitalist one cares about profit, and the socialist one cares about people.

The US consumer economy creates obesity, and a market around obesity, such as the weight loss business. handicap parking lots, obesity, wheelchairs, etc. It uses people to make a profit and makes people stressed, lowering the quality of life. Obesity is created by commercials to make people want to eat more. The same is true of the commercials, making what people want, not what people need. People are in debt with credit cards, consuming, using the money they don’t have to buy things they don’t need to impress people they despise. Making a swimming pool in the backyard and taking more time to manage it than to use it. People get sick, such as with diabetes, because of excessive consumption. The US created many holidays just to boost shopping. People are trapped at the bottom levels of the Maslow Hierarchy of needs by wanting more, and never have the chance to ascend to higher levels of the Maslow Pyramid, depriving them the ability to fulfill their potential and realize their life with meaning.

The US consists of only 5% of the world population, but consumes 25% of the world's resources. It damages the environment and accelerates climate change. If every country wants to be a consumer society like the US, the world economy will collapse immediately, especially a country like China that has 18% of the world population.

The Chinese consume less but have a better life. Over-consuming adds no benefit to life, but damages it.

Now, China has a longer life expectancy than the US. The span of quality life is even longer. The Chinese retire earlier than Americans. Chinese tourists are everywhere. The Chinese enrich their life not by eating more and having more. They learn more, explore more, experience more, and socialize more.

The socialist economy is for the people, not profit from the people. Go to China to have a look for yourself. You will tell the difference.
