Has America's hegemony declined?

(2024-07-24 13:57:24) 下一個

Q: Has America's hegemony over the rest of the world decreased or does it still maintain a significant level of control over global politics and economics?

A:

The US hegemony is declining for sure. Take for example, what did its occupation of Afghanistan for 20 years have achieved? Nothing. After a decade of Freedom of Navigation, why does it look powerless when facing Houthi’s attack on cargo ships on the Red Sea? For one thing, the US has a mental problem. Can ships sailing to Isreal go through the South China Sea without through the Red Sea? Why did the US put its Freedom of navigation in the South China Sea? Even if it can print money, its money is ill-managed and way off the target. The US had years of Freedom of Navigation at sea the navigation was free, and when navigation faced interruptions, their Freedom of Navigation operations stayed in the South China Sea. The US spent millions on Freedom of Navigation, and cannot protect Freedom of Navigation. That’s the decline of the hegemony.

After Russia had its military operation in Ukraine, the US pushed every country to sanction Russia. Yet most countries in the world just ignored the US dictation, including some of its allies such as the most important Indo-Pacific partner, India. This shows that the US has lost control of the global politics. What’s the result of the sanction on Russia? All the ally countries resulted in inflation, the European economy was hit badly, while the Russian economy is developing normally. The US wants to weaken Russia by the Ukraine War. Yet the result is the West weakened.

Since 2008 the financial tsunami, China alongside its BRI partners has developed, while the economy of the US together with its allies stagnated.

The world has changed. The US hegemony does not work for the US nor its allies. Giving up its hegemony is good for the US and the world. The hegemony only works for the military-industrial complex but not most of the people in the world.
