去年，澳大利亞女歌手Amy Shark在YouTube上發布一首新歌《C’Mon》（ “別介”），著名鼓手Travis Barker助陣，歌曲直截了當“自我”揭短，同時表達了改變願望與無助，如歌中唱道：

注意到歌曲MV（見下麵YouTube視頻）中一個情景，Amy把一台顯示器給砸了（或墜落），暗示砸了某些“說教”或者別的什麽？MV從視覺上再次解讀了歌曲。其中的一部分鏡頭給了布滿刺青紋身的著名鼓手Travis Barker，架子鼓水花飛濺和廢棄建築物遙相呼應，也成了MV不可或缺的一部分，不僅僅Travis是此歌曲的作者之一。不奇怪，即使同一首歌，完全可能拍出不同的MV，比如，選擇富麗堂皇的宮殿之類的背景，歌曲意境肯定不一樣了。
和Amy的這首歌曲比較，Ingrid Andress 的獲獎歌曲“Lady Like”則叛逆意味十足，表現“不一樣的淑女”，可謂走到另一個極端。
有時候，要區分自私（selfish)和自我為中心（self-absorbed)並不容易，在電影“輻射（居裏夫人）”（Amazon出品）中有個情景，居裏表達他的愛慕心聲，還不是居裏夫人的她回應道：“我是一個自私的人。” 居裏回答道：“你隻是self-absorbed”，的確，她幸運遇到了一個懂她的人，電影中的此刻讓人印象極為深刻，且不說電影後來，居裏夫人如何卷入他人家庭，如何被人窗前罵大街，這些又會怎樣影響人們對她的評價，或根本沒有影響？個人成長環境對人的影響是很大的，名人也不例外，也影響人對人的言行舉止看法。自我為中心（self-absorbed）更多是一種缺乏安全感帶來的自我保護，隻有自身內心變得強大以後，會有所改變。同樣，完全被保護的環境中成長起來的人，缺乏自我保護意識，可能如一篇文章所說的那樣，看起來“天真得有些愚，有誘導他人做惡使壞的嫌疑”，同樣需要時間去調整，但過程可能有些苦澀。特別是，如果成長環境避免不了兩個極端的同時存在，也就避免不了其間的左右搖擺，內心的困惑掙紮可能要持續更長一段時間。
最近，成立於1983年的MusiCares Foundation選擇著名歌手Joni Mitchell (77歲）為2022年代言人，基金會主要幫助那些從事音樂、遇到困難的音樂人。不得不提一下，Joni Mitchell 2000年重新翻唱了自己的成名歌曲“Both Sides Now ”，如果比較三十年前（1969年）版，感覺很不一樣了，她注入了對生活的更多理解？於是有了這樣的小小疑問，是她改變了歌曲的味道，還是生活改變了她自己？顯然，是後者。這首歌在電影《love actually 》（2003）中有個情景裏出現，Emma Thompson的表演在歌曲襯托下感動了無數人（見下麵YouTube一段電影片段），相信很多人看過這部電影。
關於“改變”都在歌聲裏，想象Ruston Kelly老了以後，如何翻唱自己的歌曲“Alive“（活著）？ 他的音域偏中低頻部，音樂伴奏補上高頻部分，此歌還加入了高音伴唱，聽起來更加豐富飽滿。歌曲中段裏的兩句歌詞起到畫龍點睛的作用，點擊著“生活真諦”，“Say you need me，Say you need me too”（心心相印，彼此關愛），歌曲從花兒破土開始，到星星滿天，再回到廚房裏正在煮飯的她/他，輕輕哼唱著John Prine的歌…
誰是John Prine？借用一位Prine歌迷的話：“每個人都是Prine的粉，如果你不是，你隻是對你自己還不了解”。聽一聽Prine的歌“我記得一切”。
