Thank you letter 3

Dear Dr. Xiu: 

This is a great interview experience for me. Thank you for your introduction of the program and the very considerate interviewer arrangement.  

From my visit to the program, I can see that resident education here is put at a very high priority. You have put much effort into structuring the whole framework to incorporate public service, contemporary and classical psychiatry treatment, research and education together. Having worked in the XXX hospital in China, I have had opportunity and responsibility to educate the people in the community (for example, for awareness and prevention of XXX and XXX) and promote general health. So I am very happy that this program has considered public sector as an important part of its goal. I am also very happy to learn that this department is doing very well, both in the scope of psychiatry in the state and in the scope of how the department is doing in the university.  

I had a chance talk more with Dr. Zhang after the formal interview and know more about the life and work as a psychiatry resident here. I also drove around to explore more about the neighborhood before I left XXX on Saturday. These experiences also affect my decision positively. 

I will always remember your words when you looked straight at my eyes: “You really should go to a university program.” I think you have actually exemplified what a good university program should look like to me by the various events during the interview day. I would definitely rate your program very high on my list when the time comes. In the mean time, I would be more than happy to accept a pre-match if you would offer it to me. As the metaphor has suggested, interviewing for a job is like dating, what you are looking for is really someone who likes you and whom you like. When the right person appears, you will know, and you really don’t need to look around for more.
