浴室裏的葬禮 ——A Funeral in the Bathroom

 

這首詩是幾年前陪孩子們讀書時看到的，非常風趣，我一直念念不忘。最近又找出來看了一遍，然後試著把它譯成中文。

 

A Funeral in the Bathroom 浴室裏的葬禮

Tears in the bathroom, 在浴室裏強忍淚水，

Time to say goodbye 告別的時刻就要到來，

To a chubby little fish – 對著一隻可愛的小肥魚，

We called him Pudgy Pie. 我們叫他胖胖派。

 

We could almost hear him say, 好像還能聽到他在叫

“This fish food is so good! ‘這魚食真的好吃，

It’s my ice cream and pizza pie!” 那是我的冰淇淋和披薩！’

Oh, how he loved his food! 哦，他是多麽地熱愛美食！

 

But here beside the toilet, 但是站在馬桶旁邊，

We try to decide. 我們想要明白：

Dis Pudgy eat too much, 是不是胖胖派吃得太多，

Is this why he died? 所以他才歇菜？

 

We placed him on the water 我們把他放進水裏，

amid a gentle hush. 蕩起了微微漣漪。

Then we push the handle, 然後我們按下把手，

And the toilet starts to flush. 馬桶開始衝洗。

 

Pudgy’s back in water. 胖胖派又回到水中。

Oh, how he loved to swim! 哦，他是多麽熱愛遊泳！

And here in the toilet, 現在他就在馬桶裏，

He takes his final spin. 旋轉，進行最後的致意。

 

One last exciting whirl, 再來一個歡快的漩渦，

before he must move on. 然後他就要繼續。

And then in one giant gulp, 隨著一聲響亮的吸氣，

Our little fish is gone. 我們的小魚已經離去。
