今天煮雞蛋時發現同樣是large size 紅皮雞蛋，大小還有區別。圖裏兩個大一點的是Trade Joe買的走地雞蛋（cage free ），四個小一點的是Costco的有機蛋。
幾個星期前Costco雞蛋短缺，有機蛋貨架空空如也，白雞蛋也隻有幾盒了。買了一盒白雞蛋發現它既不是走地雞蛋，數量也從24個減到18個。所以在Trade Joe看到3.49一盒的紅色走地雞蛋也買回來了。兩星期前發現Costco的有機蛋又有貨了，還是繼續吃Costco的有機蛋吧。
我一直以為有機蛋一定也是走地雞蛋，看看Costco的有機蛋盒Orgánic Egg字樣大而醒目，沒看到free range/cage free的字樣。再仔細尋找，左邊的小字裏確實有。不禁疑問難道有機雞蛋都是走地雞生的嗎（走地雞吃有機飼料）？寫不寫無所謂？還是Costco的有機走地雞走的不夠多地方不夠大？吃的健康活動少能行嗎？
三年前在南加州短居時去農莊買過雞蛋（沒說是有機的），比Costco的有機蛋略貴，但是蛋黃顏色深而飽滿，顯然看上去比Costco的蛋營養充足。有照片為證。
Costco的有機蛋不僅小，蛋黃也小，顏色淺立不起來。以後再從其他地方買有機蛋看看，是不是蛋黃也看上去營養不良。
想想Costco供應量那麽大，要保證它的雞有足夠大的地方跑還真不敢想象。那麽還有必要買他家的有機雞雞肉和有機蛋嗎？毋庸置疑Costco 的價格還是優惠的。
最好是自己養雞吃著放心
新年開篇寫點瑣碎小事，見笑了。
Space:
Pasture raised hens require a minimum of 108 square feet of outdoor space per bird, while free range hens only need a few square feet.
Diet:
Pasture raised chickens primarily eat grass and bugs from their large outdoor area, leading to richer yolk color and potentially higher nutritional value compared to free range hens who may primarily eat feed.
Quality perception:
Generally, pasture raised eggs are considered to be of higher quality due to the more natural grazing behavior of the hens.
有機蛋和走地雞蛋是兩個互相獨立的概念。
有機蛋專指飼料，種飼料時不能用化肥和農藥。
（Organic foods must be grown on plots that are free from pesticides and chemical fertilizers,）
走地雞蛋專指雞棚，雞可以走出雞棚，到露天去漫遊。
雞蛋可以是以下四種：
既有機，又走地
有機，非走地
非有機，走地
既非有機，又非走地
Pasture-raised eggs come from hens that are raised using natural methods and have access to outdoor pastures:
Roam freely: Hens are allowed to roam the farm during the day, scratching and pecking for bugs and worms.
Sleep in a chicken house: Hens return to their chicken house at night.
Have more space: Hens are given more space to roam, socialize, and forage. For example, Vital Farms gives each hen at least 108 square feet of space.
Rotate fields: Fields are rotated so that hens always have fresh pasture to explore.
Eat locally grown feed: Hens are fed locally grown grain and plant-based proteins.
這麽放養的雞當然好，味道一定也好。
