Pitch and Volume(1) - Three ways of emphasizing

在強調一個單詞或一個意思時，我們經常聽到的有以下三種方式：louder, longer and with higher pitch. 讀的聲音高一點，聲音拉長一點， high－pitch 中文很少對應的翻譯，可能是因為（說）中文很少使用這個手段，但英語確是太普遍了，暫且把它叫做聲頻（或音頻）吧，因為它於音的頻率有關。( pitch -> frequency)。
而聲音的高低於音量有關 (loudness -> volume)。與音的振幅 (amplitude)有關。

這兩個手段通常一起使用，再就是當聲頻和音量增加的時候，音也自然隨著拖長樂，所以這三個手段往往是自然的一起出現。

·  Wavelength; this is the distance from the crest of one wave to the crest of the next.
·  Frequency頻率; this is the number of waves that pass a point in each second.
·  Amplitude [物]振幅; this is the measure of the amount of energy in a sound wave, a measure of how big the wave is.

 

Pitch (對應的中文在這兒可為：頻率，聲頻，音頻（率），音調)： 與聲音的頻率（frequency）有關。頻率高則聲音高，頻率低則聲音低。
頻率是指物體震動的快慢（頻率高，音調高，就是尖銳的聲音）；在單位時間內完成全震動的次數；頻率的單位是赫茲（Hz）。
High-pitched: 單位時間內音頻高（high-frequency vs. low-frequency）。

This is how high or low a sound seems. A bird makes a high pitch. A lion makes a low pitch.

 

Volume（音強）：又稱響度，取決於聲音的幅度。於振幅（Amplitude）有關。也即振幅決定聲音的大小和強弱。振幅就是物體震動的幅度（振幅大，響度大）;振幅是震動物體離開平衡位置的最大距離，叫震動的振幅。單位是：m；用 A來表示。了oudness of sound (high volume):  音的振幅 (amplitude)大 （loud vs. soft)。

The amplitude of a wave is measured as:

1. the height from the equilibrium point to the highest point of a crest or
2. the depth from the equilibrium point to the lowest point of a trough
